Diploma into a degree

Victoria University is currently offering five Higher Education Diploma courses, each providing a streamlined pathway straight into the second year of the Bachelor degree, with full credit for the first year of the degree.

Once you have successfully completed the diploma (to the same academic standard as those completing the first year of the degree) you will pathway into the corresponding degree program. The bonus is you will then graduate with two qualifications, a diploma and a degree, or you can exit into the workforce after one year with a diploma qualification.

Who it is for

The Diploma to a Degree courses are ideal if you aspire to do a degree but aren’t quite ready because you:

  • didn’t achieve the ATAR score for your preferred degree course
  • need to develop more in depth knowledge and skills in a particular discipline area
  • need to improve your academic skills
  • have been away from study for a while and need preparation to return to study (mature age)
  • are within the workforce/have industry experience but don’t have a qualification (mature age).

Additional study support

A supportive learning environment

With a slightly longer semester, you receive additional support:

  • to develop/refresh the foundation skills and knowledge you require to undertake the degree
  • for essential study skills
  • to improve your language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Small class sizes give you ready access to the teacher, which will make the transition to tertiary education a more positive experience.
