About

Greg is a senior lecturer in music, in the College of Arts, Business, Law, Education and IT, and co-chair of the Bachelor of Music. He specialises in musicology and music pedagogy and curriculum. Greg began tertiary music lecturing at Melba Conservatorium in the early 2000s and has been an academic at VU since 2008.

Greg is a practising musician, with over 25 years of professional experience across a range of music and arts industry contexts. 

Greg is a passionate teacher, with over 25 years' experience in secondary and tertiary music education. Greg’s PhD explored the backgrounds and experiences of students in tertiary music education settings

Greg has a strong interest in internationalising tertiary music education. He has worked over the last ten years on a variety of short-term mobility projects in China, India and Indonesia to foster intercultural awareness for music students through music and creative-based arts projects.

Industry experience

Greg has been a musician, composer and creative arts curator for over 25 years. A member of several original bands, he has performed nationally and internationally at several arts and music festivals and countless live gigs regionally and interstate. As a founding member of a Melbourne creative arts group, the Middleman Collective, Greg organised several large music and arts events, including the MUMU Music Festival in Northern Victoria.

Greg has curated several exhibitions of local and internationally renowned artists in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and India. He organised and curated community arts events (including ‘Playlist’ 2018 Arts Exhibition) as well as several masterclass/performances by national and international artists
