Victoria University (VU) continues to strengthen its engagement with Asia under a renewed agreement with the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan in Indonesia, to collaborate in the areas of teaching, learning and research.

At a time of significant growth for the future capital of Indonesia, East Kalimantan is committed to increasing quality human resource development in the province, and with VU have identified areas of shared and compatible interests.

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in September 2019 by Mr Hadi Mulyadi, Vice Governor of East Kalimantan, and Professor Peter Dawkins AO, VU Vice-Chancellor and President, during a visit to VU by a delegation of senior officials from the Indonesian province.

Under the MOU, opportunities for collaboration include:

  • research and consultancy projects relating to the economic development of East Kalimantan
  • East Kalimantan–funded scholarships for students to study at VU
  • VU-delivered executive leadership training programs.

In attendance at the signing was Mr Steve Berridge, Senior Vice-President, Future Students and Planning at VU, and a group of students sponsored by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government who are currently studying the Master of Change, Innovation and Leadership at VU.
