Register your interest in ‘The bitter effect of sugar: bone-muscle interaction in patients with type 2 diabetes & the effect of exercise’.

We are seeking volunteers over 18 years of age with type 2 diabetes to participate in the type 2 diabetes and exercise study. We will explore the communication between bone, muscle and the endocrine system. We will investigate how exercise can improve hormonal health, insulin sensitivity and muscle health in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Participation will involve attending testing sessions and exercise training sessions at Victoria University Footscray Park over a 12-16 week period.

To take part in the study, and receive the benefits of free health and fitness testing, participants need to meet these criteria:

  • aged 18 years or older with type 2 diabetes
  • not on treatment for osteoporosis or long-term glucocorticoid treatment
  • not a current smoker or quit in the past 12 months
  • not taking hormone replacement therapy.
