From sports management to physiotherapy
The best things about VU are the facilities and the helpful staff, who actually understand students’ lifestyles and different reasons for taking the course, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Jack Riddle
Bachelor of Applied Movement Sciences/Master of Physiotherapy
Recovering from a knee injury inspired Jack Riddle to study a Master of Physiotherapy at VU. He shares his experience.
“I left school with the intention of getting into sporting management roles, such as operations. I came to VU straight from school and completed a Bachelor of Sport Management, achieving just short of a HD average grade.
“I found some internship roles with AFL and VFL clubs over the next two years while working a labouring job.
“I had a bad knee injury which limited my ability to play football between 2019 and 2021 and through the pandemic year, I decided to go back and study the Bachelor of Applied Movement Sciences/Master of Physiotherapy.
“Having admired the way my physio helped me through my injury both physically and mentally, and how professional they were, I decided that’s what I wanted to be.”
Support for success
“VU had a new physiotherapy program with top tier professionals heading the program, and a solid course structure. Plus the Block Model usually helps me focus on one section.
“The best things about VU are the facilities and the helpful library staff and course coordinators, who actually understand students’ lifestyles and different reasons for taking the course, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.”
Looking to the future
“What I love about physiotherapy is the ability to help people improve their life, even a small amount. It will be such a rewarding career.
“In the future I would love to own my own health clinic, offering physiotherapy as a main service, but also other areas to create a more well-rounded health service.”
