My VU Guaranteed application was successful, what happens now?
If your VU Guaranteed application is successful, to gain entry into a VU or VU Polytechnic Course you must:
1. apply for a place in your preferred Course(s) at VU or VU Polytechnic (through VTAC during VTAC’s application/preferencing periods) or VU Polytechnic (directly to VU Polytechnic during the application periods for the VU Polytechnic apply Direct Course); and
2. meet the Admission Criteria for the Course(s) you apply for (if you receive a VU Guaranteed place and you do not meet the admission criteria for the Course(s) you apply for, VU will provide an alternative Course suggestion).
If you are offered a VU Guaranteed place you are not obligated to apply for a VU or VU Polytechnic Course, or to enrol in any Course you are accepted into, but failure to do so will forfeit your VU Guaranteed place.
Some ATAR Courses have limited places available, VU Guaranteed students receive 5 ATAR adjustment points to give additional consideration however students still must be ranked highly enough to receive an offer inclusive of adjustments. VU will provide suggestions of additional alternative Courses to preference or apply Direct for in these cases. VU encourages students to apply Direct for VU Polytechnic Courses early to avoid disappointment.
If a Course reaches capacity, and VU is unable to offer an otherwise eligible student a place in a preferred Course, VU will provide suggestions of an alternative Course.
I already completed the VU Guaranteed application, why do I also have to submit a Course application?
A VU Guaranteed application is not a Course application. You must also submit a Course application to be eligible for a VU Guaranteed place at VU.
You can submit a Course application through VTAC (during their application/preferencing periods) or directly to VU Polytechnic for any apply Direct Courses.
If you fail to submit or complete submission of a Course application for a VU higher education or VU Polytechnic Course, or post offer, do not supply the information or complete the documentation required to enrol in your offered Course, you will forfeit your VU Guaranteed place.
My VU Guaranteed application was successful, does that mean I get to enrol in any VU course I want?
No. VU is not obligated to offer you a place in the Course(s) you have applied for, and may instead offer you a place in an alternative Course of VU’s selection for which you are eligible. You must meet the entry requirements for the Course to be considered for a place in that Course (entry requirements are subject to change at VU’s discretion).
I am applying through VTAC & have preferenced Courses at other institutions, will I still get a VU Guaranteed offer?
If you are applying through VTAC you will only get offered a Course at VU if VU is your highest eligible preference and you are eligible for that Course.
What if I do not meet the entry requirements of my chosen Course(s)?
If you do not meet the entry requirements of the VU or VU Polytechnic Course(s) you have applied for, VU will recommend an alternative Course (based on your results and outcome of additional selection tasks). You are not obligated to enrol in the alternative Course but if you do not you will forfeit your VU Guaranteed place.
What if my VU Guaranteed application is unsuccessful?
If your VU Guaranteed application is unsuccessful, you may reapply for VU Guaranteed. You may also still apply for VU and VU Polytechnic Courses (but will not be guaranteed entry into a VU or VU Polytechnic Course). VU will provide you further information when advising you of your VU Guaranteed application outcome.
What if my VU Guaranteed application is incomplete or late?
Incomplete VU Guaranteed applications or VU Guaranteed applications received outside the Application Period, will not be eligible to be considered for VU Guaranteed.
How many VU Guaranteed places are available?
VU reserves the right to offer as many (or as few) VU Guaranteed places as it sees fit each year. VU is under no obligation to offer any VU Guaranteed places.
