Chinese legal executive education program

The Chinese Legal Executive Education Program is a targeted course for practising Chinese lawyers. The program covers Australian law and common law systems, as well as facilitating networking within government, business and the legal sector.

The eight week intensive course includes:

  • daily seminars and tutorials with a diverse range of speakers from industry, the law, the judiciary and academia
  • field trips to significant sites, such as the Victorian Parliament, Federal and state courts, and local law firms
  • attendance at conferences, seminars and professional networking forums
  • a legal placement program that allows students to apply their new knowledge and observe professional legal practice at Victorian law firms.

Outcomes

Program delegates return to China with a broader understanding of the Australian legal system and western legal principles.

Participating Australian law firms have the opportunity to:

  • strengthen their cultural and commercial understanding of the Chinese legal sector
  • establish business links with Chinese law firms.
