What are Program-Based Working Groups?

The Student Life & Leadership Program-Based Working Groups empower students to take on leadership roles, influencing the strategic decisions of various student services and programs. This initiative ensures that students lead in shaping the programs funded by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), working closely with full-time staff in a collaborative and strategic partnership.

Students can apply for the following positions in the Program-Based Working Groups:

  • Clubs Assistant (1 position)
  • Leadership Assistants (2 positions)
  • Events Assistants (5 positions)
  • International Events Assistant (1 position)
  • Vollies Assistants (2 positions)
  • LEAD Facilitators (5 positions)
  • Student Consultative Group Assistant (1 position)

Each position plays a crucial role in leading and shaping student experiences.

All positions are paid at a HEP 3.1 rate of $38.51 in line with the Victoria University Enterprise Agreement. 

How to apply

To apply for one of our exciting positions, please follow these steps:

  1. Review the Terms of Reference: Learn more about the governance and structure of the Working Groups. 
  2. Read the Election Guidelines: Understand the election process, eligibility criteria, and shortlisting procedures. 
  3. Review the available positions and their responsibilities: Each role has its own specific duties and selection criteria, which you will need to address in your application.
  4. Submit your application: Click the application link for the role you're interested in to complete your online application, including your bio and responses to the key selection criteria.

Eligibility criteria

Before applying, ensure you meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Victorian-based course or VU Online.
  • Must be able to commit to the required hours (15 hours/week or 5 hours/month).
  • Must comply with Victoria University student policies during the application process and throughout your term.
  • Some roles may have additional eligibility criteria (e.g., you're an international student or LEAD Program Workshop attendance).

Application process & timeline

  1. Call for nominations: nominations open on 28 October, 2024 and close on 6 November, 2024. Submit your application online within this window.
  2. Shortlisting: applications will be reviewed, and shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  3. Voting: All enrolled students will be able to vote for their representatives. Voting will take place from 18 November to 21 November, 2024.
  4. Results: Election results will be announced on 26 November, 2024.
