We are excited to see the contributions these students will make in shaping programs and improving student life at VU. Thank you to everyone who participated in the election process.
What are Program-Based Working Groups?
The Student Life and Leadership Program-Based Working Groups empower students to take on leadership roles, influencing the strategic decisions of various student services and programs.
This initiative ensures that students lead in shaping the programs funded by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), working closely with full-time staff in a collaborative and strategic partnership.
How to apply
To apply for one of our exciting positions, please follow these steps:
- Review the Terms of Reference: Learn more about the governance and structure of the Working Groups.
- Read the Election Guidelines: Understand the election process, eligibility criteria, and shortlisting procedures.
- Review the available positions and their responsibilities: Each role has its own specific duties and selection criteria, which you will need to address in your application.
- Submit your application: Click the application link for the role you're interested in to complete your online application, including your bio and responses to the key selection criteria.

Eligibility criteria
Before applying, please make sure you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be currently enrolled in a Victorian-based course or VU Online and maintain enrollment for the duration of your term.
- Be able to commit to the required hours (15 hours/week or 5 hours/month).
- Comply with Victoria University student policies during the application process and throughout your term.
- Meet additional eligibility criteria if the role requires (e.g. international student or LEAD Program workshop attendance).
Not eligible:
- Candidates who are elected or hold a position in the VU Student Union, VU Student Union affiliated bodies, or the VU Postgraduate Association that are given an honorarium or stipend payment are not eligible.
- Candidates who have been subject to a substantiated finding of misconduct or criminal conduct, or are currently the subject of an active investigation by the University or external authorities, are not eligible.
Application process & timeline
- Call for nominations: Nominations open on Monday 22 September and close on Sunday 12 October. Submit your application online within this window.
- Shortlisting: applications will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
- Voting: All enrolled students can vote for their representatives. Voting will take place from Monday 27—Thursday 30 October.
- Results: Election results will be announced on Wednesday 5 November or ASAP at the conclusion of counting.
