Colin James King
Colin is a lecturer in Victoria University's College of Law & Justice and a practising barrister in commercial law and aviation law at the Victorian Bar.
He completed his law degree as a mature age student and was one of Victoria University’s first law graduates in 2004. He also holds a commercial pilots’ licence and is a flying instructor.

Colin is a visiting lecturer at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, China. He has travelled extensively overseas promoting Australian pilot training and Australian aviation to the aviation sector and government and in particular in China. He also promoted the 1997 Australian International Airshow Trade Exhibition (Airshows DownUnder) in Asia and Europe.
He sits as an arbitrator at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria. He appears in VCAT, the Magistrates’ Court, County and Supreme Courts and the Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court as well as the Local and District Courts in New South Wales.
Prior to entering the law, he held senior positions in business as State Manager and Operations Manager for large corporations. He also owned and operated a flying school, air charter business and aircraft dealership. He took part in the Malaysian International Air Rally in 1997 where he flew the lead aircraft, the ‘Eagle’. He has taught various law subjects at Victoria University since 2006. He also teaches building law at Federation University TAFE in Ballarat. He has extensive experience in the Vocational Education Training sector (VET).
