Sean's success story
Why did you choose VU?
“VU seemed like a good fit for me as it has an outstanding sporting reputation and the course that would kick start my career in sport science and management. Location was another selling point as I live only a short train ride away.”
Advantage: VU Block Model®
“The VU Block Model® means I had a steady workload throughout the semester, studying one unit at a time, while the traditional model’s assessments are typically due towards the end of the semester. I'm achieving high distinctions and distinctions in all of my subjects.
"Don’t get me wrong – uni is still challenging! But there’s a great advantage to learning in the classroom setting, rather than lectures. It allows you to participate in hands-on activities and group work. It also allows you to retain more course content due to the regularity of classes.”
Get a life!
“Of course, having a life outside of uni’s really important to me. I play tennis and regularly compete in Australian Money Tournaments. I also coach at my local club and kids at Westbourne Grammar School, so I’m able to keep my sport alive while I earn an income.”
Practical learning
“The course has had plenty of hands-on learning opportunities, including analysis of running and kicking techniques in Biomechanics, and learning how to administer laboratory fitness tests in Exercise Physiology.”
Experiencing the real world
“I’m excited to already be exploring my career options and gaining more real-world experience. I'm currently doing my Sport Management placement at Melbourne Sports Institute, and I’ll also be doing a Sport Science placement soon.”
