Victoria University (VU) has secured formal approval to commence teaching in India, becoming the first Victorian university to do so in Delhi under the Indian Government’s National Education Policy (NEP).

The agreement enables VU to expand its world-class education offering, while strengthening academic, research, and industry collaboration between Australia and India.

At a time when demand for tertiary education is growing rapidly, VU’s Delhi NCR campus will enable more students to access an internationally recognised qualification with a globally recognised institution.

The campus will expand access to high-quality tertiary education at an affordable cost, reducing the financial barriers associated with studying overseas.

VU’s Delhi National Capital Region campus, scheduled to open in August 2026, is located in Gurugram, Haryana. Its proximity to major business hubs, transport links, modern infrastructure, and safe accommodation, makes it an ideal location for a contemporary university.

The campus is also well connected via the Delhi Metro and the Indira Gandhi International Airport, providing convenient access for students from across India and the wider South Asian region.

The VU Delhi NCR campus will be the first in India to deliver education through the distinctive VU Block Model®, where students study one subject at a time in four-week blocks, supported by small, workshop style classes. The model has proven to be a particularly powerful educational approach for first-in-family and disadvantaged students and is recognised as a breakthrough in inclusive education.

“Too many students face barriers to accessing an international education, whether because of limited local opportunities or the cost of studying overseas. VU’s campus will bring a globally recognised Australian university experience closer to home, giving more students the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and networks they need to succeed," The Hon. Steve Bracks, Chancellor, Victoria University said.

“VU’s Delhi NCR campus is about opening doors to opportunity. High overseas study costs and limited access to institutions leave many students in India without global education options. Victoria University’s education and research offerings aim to help change that.

Bringing our VU Block Model to India offers students a proven pathway to success – one that is inclusive, industry connected and designed for the future,” Professor Adam Shoemaker, Vice-Chancellor, VU said.
