Train like the Real Madrid football champions
Aspiring young soccer stars will train alongside world class football coaches from the legendary Real Madrid Foundation during two special football clinics these school holidays.
Technical coaches from the Real Madrid Foundation in Spain will conduct two week-long clinics with football experts from Victoria University’s Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL) on Monday 28 March and Monday 4 April.
The clinics are open to players between the ages of seven and 17.
Dr Fabio Serpiello, coordinator of the new Master of Sport Science (Football Performance), said the Real Madrid Foundation coaches will use a similar methodology and format followed by the stars at Real Madrid's training headquarters in Spain.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for our young, ambitious players who will be able to say that they have trained like the real stars of Real Madrid,” Dr Serpiello said.
“This experience will stay with those who come along throughout their lives and perhaps into their future football careers.”
Victoria University, Australia’s leading sports university, last year signed an agreement with the Real Madrid Foundation to offer world class football clinics to aspiring young soccer stars.
VU College of Sport and Exercise Science Dean, Professor Hans Westerbeek, said the partnership will see Victoria University and the Real Madrid Foundation host a series of football clinics in 2016 and 2017.
“It is a great honour to collaborate with the Real Madrid Foundation, and to have world class coaches and football royalty support the passion and skills of the next generation of Australian players,” Professor Westerbeek said.
The Real Madrid Foundation is Real Madrid Football Club’s social responsibility arm which promotes the values inherent to sport – using football as an educational tool.
It creates opportunities for young people all over the world to visit Real Madrid Clinics, and use the same training methods as the Real Madrid Football Club.
Registrations close on Sunday 20 March.
