Join the Victoria University community as we come together to mark Wear It Purple Day 2026 and show our support for LGBTQIA+ young people.

Wear It Purple Day is an annual day of visibility, inclusion and solidarity, creating supportive, safe and empowering environments for rainbow young people. This year’s theme, Colours of Change, recognises the many ways courage can show up – from being yourself and sharing your story to standing alongside others and creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.

VU will be marking Wear It Purple Day with activities at Footscray Park on Thursday 27 August, ahead of the national day on Friday 28 August.

Come along, connect with members of the VU community and show your support by wearing purple.

As part of VU’s recognition of Wear It Purple Day, members of the Vice-Chancellor’s Group have also come together to share their support for LGBTQIA+ young people and reflect on what inclusion and belonging mean at Victoria University. Watch the video on YouTube.
