Victoria University is proud to take part in the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence – an annual, global campaign with various events and presentations on the theme.

Discover how you can get involved in 2023, from attending live talks, to participating in a march against family violence.

Join us for a live audio and film recording for the People of VU podcast, where Vice-Chancellor Professor, Adam Shoemaker, and Our Watch CEO, Patty Kinnersly, will discuss what actions universities can take to prevent gender-based violence, and what we can do to promote genuine gender equality.

Join with your fellow VU students and colleagues in the annual 'Respect Victoria Walk Against Family Violence'.

Walk With Her is a free community event that aims to raise awareness of the prevalence, impacts and severity of family violence. The 2km walking track is low impact, low incline and suitable for most fitness levels.

This is a free seminar for VU staff and external partners that aims to provide participants with an understanding of trauma, the impacts and intersections of mental health, tools to challenge stigmas associated with mental health, and strategies to support individuals in an effective way.

Join us for a presentation hosted by Preventing Violence Together Western Region, MiCare and White Ribbon Australia as we look at unpacking masculinity, gender-transformative parenting and the way forward in dismantling gender stereotypes in care-giving through a multicultural perspective. A not-to-be missed event with a star panel line up including service providers and community representatives.

By learning how to be an active bystander through Small Steps: Bystander Action for Equality, you can safely and effectively challenge sexist attitudes in your personal and professional life. This 4-hour virtual course is designed for workplaces and individuals.
