Why go on exchange?

See the world and experience a different culture. By studying on exchange you can:

  • develop a network of contacts and extend your career opportunities
  • learn a language and improve your communication skills
  • develop life experiences and self confidence
  • receive credits towards your VU degree*.

* A study plan must be prepared in consultation with your course coordinator to ensure overseas units are comparable to those you would be studying at VU.

Are you eligible?

To be eligible to study on an exchange program you must have:

  • achieved a credit average
  • completed one year of undergraduate study at VU, or
  • completed one semester of postgraduate study at VU.

Choose an exchange partner

Search for an institution from our list of over 100 exchange partners. Once you have found an institution you like, visit the website of your chosen institution to find out if the subject or unit options for your specific degree match those offered by that institution.

Make sure you check the language requirements for selected subjects or units. For non-English speaking countries it is often possible to study your subjects in English while taking the opportunity to learn another language.

You will need to complete a Victoria Abroad study plan with your course coordinator as part of your exchange application.

Costs and financial assistance

Exchange students are not required to pay tuition fees to the overseas institution, but continue to pay Victoria University fees as normal.

You may also be eligible for a variety of funding schemes for students going overseas either on exchange or a short term overseas study program.
