Legal Studies and Australian Politics competition

The Faculty of Business and Law at Victoria University is proud to add the Legal Studies and Australian Politics competition (LSAP) to its schools engagement program. 

LSAP 2012 is open to all Victorian Year 10 and 11 students. LSAP will test and develop skills in debating, negotiation, mock trial, even filmmaking! The competition will also build on the understanding of Australian and international political and legal systems. 

Guided by Victoria Law School (VLS) student mentors, participants will be divided into teams to create their own full service consultancy firms, complete with name and branding. Teams will then compete in a wide range of challenges designed to test knowledge and skills in law and politics, as well as help develop teamwork and communication skills and foster leadership potential. Students will also be required to fulfill an online component for the duration of the three-week program, enabling them to communicate with their team from school and home.

LSAP 2012 campus days will occur at Victoria Law School's City Queen campus on four consecutive Saturdays - 21 & 28 July, and 4 & 11 August 2012. Each day will run from 10am to about 4pm with a full schedule of activities. Team packs, materials and lunch will be provided to all students on each of these days.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the final day of competition, 11 August 2012 - an event open to participants' families.

Victoria University is very excited to be offering this program for the first time, and to celebrate the program is open to all students free of charge. 

Students can nominate themselves, or teachers can nominate them, simply by emailing Scott Murray at [email protected]. All students who nominate will be accepted, but we do ask that students commit to the entire program before nominating.
