FCAC and Moondani Balluk at VU presents Film Real: Black Screen.
Join us for a free screening of Indigenous rock documentary Big Name No Blanket at Footscray Community Arts Centre during NAIDOC Week. Frontman of pioneering 1980s group Warumpi Band, George Rrurrambu’s contribution to contemporary Aboriginal music and reconciliation was extraordinary. Dubbed ‘the black Mick Jagger’ for his energetic performances, and hailed a legend for being the first to sing rock’n’roll music in Aboriginal languages, George caught Australia by surprise. This is his story. Rated M, 57min.
