Making a difference to the health of every Australian

Rosemary Calder

My name is Rosemary Calder. I am the Director of the Australian Health Policy Collaboration, an independent national health policy think tank, at Victoria University.

We focus on chronic disease prevention and management in Australia and on the relationship between socio-economic disadvantage and health, and on national policy to address these impacts.

Our work on Australia’s Health Tracker, a national report card on health, shows we are failing to prevent our biggest health killers – cardiovascular disease, cancer and mental illness.

AHPC’s work clearly shows how preventative health policy can effectively tackle the known risk factors for chronic disease.

Our research into the socio-economic risk factors in chronic disease prevention and management can end the social and economic burden we face due to this growing epidemic.

It can make a difference.
