Dr Kathy Michael is an academic of Victoria University Business School (VUBS). She has 25 plus years of experience in academia, complemented by a satisfying career in the accounting industry. An alumna of VU she holds a PhD and has completed her Bachelor and Master’s at VU.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Michael has been the recipient of prestigious teaching awards, namely: Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning Australian Awards for University Teaching & Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Her teaching philosophy integrates practical industry insights with academic rigor, fostering critical thinking and real-world application among her students.
Beyond her academic responsibilities, Dr Michael serves as the Transnational Education (TNE) Program Coordinator for BBNS courses in China, namely: Liaoning University Shenyang, CUFE University Beijing and Henan University, Kaifeng. This role allows her to contribute to the delivery of high-quality education across borders. Committed to community service, Dr Michael is a registered Justice of the Peace, and she also serves as an Ambassador for Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Australia, advocating for cancer research and awareness initiatives.
Dr Michael’s research interest includes accounting education, transnational education, AI and sustainable management accounting. She holds a position on the Scientific committee of an Internation European Conference and is convenor for the International Conference of Innovation and Development in China.
