Victoria University (VU) offers a variety of funding schemes to current students going overseas either on exchange or on a short term overseas study program. Read more about the funding options that could save you thousands of dollars.

Travel grants at VU
Travel grants are available on the condition that you complete the scheduled pre-departure sessions before you leave, and the re-entry program when you return. You are entitled to only one travel grant during your studies at VU.
VU travel grants are available for Semester 2, 2012 and Semester 1, 2013. Students on exchange will receive A$1,100 and students on a short term overseas study program will receive A$500.
If you are receiving funding from external sources such as the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) or funding from REYMS you will not be eligible for the VU travel grant.

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) grants
If you meet the ISEP scholarship selection criteria, you may be eligible to receive A$5000 in financial assistance for Semester 2, 2013 or Semester 1, 2014. Opportunities in this program are limited:

Partner institution scholarships
King’s College London, United Kingdom
The Australian Bicentennial Scholarships and Fellowships are one-off awards of up to GBP 4000 (A$6,000) to enable Australian postgraduate students or academic staff to undertake research or study in the United Kingdom for a minimum of three months.

Ludwigsburg Pädagogische Hochschule, Germany
The Baden-Württemberg scholarship scheme offers scholarships of approximately EUR 1600 (approximately A$2000). Places are available during:
- Summer semester (November 2012 to February 2013). Deadline for application is 15 December.

Université François-Rabelais, Tours, France
The Université François-Rabelais in Tours provides up to EUR 1500 (approximately A$1850) towards the expenses of two students, and the French government will reimburse 25-30% of your rent if you’re in France for three months. Two places available with choices available during:
- Winter Semester
- Summer Semester
University of Torino, Italy
The University of Torino offers two scholarships of EUR 1500 (approximately A$1850) each for exchange at the Faculty of Business and Economics for the next academic year. Two places available with choices available during:
- Semester 1, 2013 (application deadline 31 July, 2012)
- Semester 2, 2013 (application deadline 15 December, 2012)
Jönköping School of Education and Communication, Sweden
Scholarships of approximately SEK5,000 (approximately A$725). One place available per semester with choices available during:
- Winter Semester
- Summer Semester
Aalborg University, Denmark
Scholarships of up to approximately DKK8,000 (approximately A$1330). Choose between:
- Spring Semester - submit nominations by 1 October (1 February - 30 June)
- Autumn Semester - submit nominations by 1 May (1 September - 30 January)
Soonchanhyang University, Republic of Korea (suitable for students interested in Asian studies)
Scholarships of US$800 (approximately A$760) towards airfare and 150,000W per week (approximately A$135 per week) for living expenses.
External grants
Ernst Mach Grant, Austria
The Austrian government provides grants for undergraduate and graduate students studying at any of our Austrian partners for 1-2 semesters. The grant pays for insurance, accommodation, a monthly grant of EUR 940 (approximately A$1170) and travel costs.
Applications close on 1 March each year.

OS-HELP loans
This loan scheme offers a cash payment loan from the Australian Government, giving you financial assistance during your overseas exchange program. Full eligibility criteria are outlined in the Application for Overseas Exchange and Study Abroad form, but generally to be eligible you must be either a:
- Commonwealth-supported Australian citizen, or
- permanent humanitarian visa holder.
As an applicant from Victoria University, approved payments range from A$1000 to A$6051 for a six-month study period. The maximum amount you can apply for in 2013 is A$6051.

Youth allowance/Austudy
If you currently receive Youth allowance or Austudy you:
- are eligible to continue receiving payments while you study overseas
- will need to provide evidence that you will be studying full-time on an approved exchange program that will be credited towards your degree

VU Scholarships
Victoria University offers a wide range of scholarships for students in Technical and Further Education (TAFE) and higher education (HE) in all fields of study. If you are an international student, international scholarships are also available.
