Before you start
There are a few things you need to do before you start studying. Check out these handy tips and links to pages that will be useful if you're a new uni student.

Paperwork (administration)
- Check that your enrolment details are correct using MyVU portal
- Get a copy of your timetable
- Make sure you are aware of the census date, and its importance. Check our important study dates on ASKVU or the academic calendar for details
- Enrol in tutorials, labs or other classes relevant to your course
International students
When you arrive in Melbourne you may feel tired, anxious or apprehensive. Take time to adjust to your new environment. It may take a while before you feel comfortable and relaxed. This is a normal reaction for new international students and you should not feel alone. Make sure you don't neglect essentials like:
- finding accommodation
- accessing money
- using public transport
- visiting your VU campus
- finding restaurants and takeaway food outlets.
