Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

Melanie Rudolphus completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

Workplace learning: WEstjustice Sunshine Youth Office (previously called Sunshine Youth Legal Centre); Footscray Community Legal Centre; Victoria Legal Aid.

"VU's Victoria Law School is located in Melbourne's legal precinct, which made it easy to attend court or visit the many legal libraries.

The Bachelor of Laws degree equipped me with the organisational and time management skills, and the legal writing skills that are crucial in the legal profession.

The course also incorporated a work placement. Law degrees at a lot of other universities don't offer this practical element.

I completed a placement at the WEstjustice Sunshine Youth Office, volunteered at the Footscray Community Legal Centre and worked at Victoria Legal Aid, where I applied the skills learnt at uni.

I now work as a solicitor for Ann Valos Criminal Law and appear regularly at the courts for young and adult offenders. I'm also completing my Master of Laws.

I'll always recommend VU as I believe it's a fantastic place to learn, with excellent staff and resources."
