The Learning Store
The Learning Store is where skilled career counsellors can help you make informed decisions about your career. You can also plan ways to reach these career goals.
This process may help you identify your interests and abilities and explore opportunities available to you.
The Learning Store is an initiative of Victoria University (VU), Highpoint Shopping Centre and The GPT Group and it is located at Professional Suite 1, Level 4, Rosamond Road Maribyrnong. Use the stairs by the Bank of Melbourne and near the bus stops to come up to level 4. You will find the Learning Store at the top of the stairs.
Services include:

- accredited courses in retail management and small business management
If you are interested in exploring some online resources to help with planning your career, you might be interested in consulting the Victoria University Student Career Development site. On this site you will find resources to assist with career exploration as well as job seeking skills such as resume writing, interview preparation and job search.

Looking at a Career Change?
Not happy in your current job but unsure of your career direction? This FREE workshop will assist you to learn more about your work skills and values and to take the first steps towards changing your career. This FREE workshop will be held on Thursday 17 May from 1.00pm to 3.00pm.
Returning to Study – Your Questions Answered
A forum for those who are considering returning to study at TAFE or Higher Education. Hear from current and past students about their experiences, the issues they faced and the support that is available. This will be an opportunity to mingle with students who have experienced the life of returning back to TAFE or Higher Education and get advice from experienced staff. Light refreshments will be provided. This FREE workshop will be held on Thursday 24 May from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

Get Job Ready at The Learning Store
This course is aimed at developing participants’ reading, writing, and communication skills with the view to gaining or changing employment. You will gain more understanding of job advertisement requirements, complete a thorough application and resume, and learn to perform effectively in an interview situation. It will take place for 3 hours per week over a 10 week period.

Youth Community Gateways
Making your free appointment via the Youth Community Gateway is a great way to transition from school to TAFE or get back into education and training.
These appointments are available at a number of locations including The Learning Store at Highpoint and various VU campuses. Give us a call on 9919 6100 and we’ll make a time for you.

Career counsellors in action
The portable Community Gateways provides an outreach service in community settings such as neighbourhood houses, community centres and libraries. Career counselling is available to community members by appointment. You can make an appointment by calling +61 3 9919 6100.
Career planning workshops
Career Planning workshops are also conducted throughout 2012 at local centres. You can book in for a workshop by calling +61 3 9919 6100.

Mobile Gateways vehicle
The Mobile Gateways Vehicle (MGV) travels to different areas within the community.
There are skilled career advisers on board to provide information, advice and assistance with your return to study and your career options.
The MGV is a large rigid body vehicle. It is able to comfortably accommodate the delivery of classes and workshops for up to 15 people.
It can also be used as an information booth, health-screening clinic and many other activities. It carries laptops, which have wireless broadband Internet access, a large LCD screen for DVD or PowerPoint presentations and is fully air-conditioned. The Gateways vehicle can be deployed almost anywhere as it can generate its own power if necessary.
