This free event is open to members of the academic community, postgraduate students and other interested parties.
It will consist of a number of ‘roundtable’ discussions and presentations based on aspects of the past, present and future of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and its associated Olympic Studies Centres (located in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane).
Early arrival will enable delegates to peruse the Australian Sport Museum’s extensive Olympic collection.
Program
12.30pm Registration and welcome in the Jim Stynes Room (A) of the Olympic Stand at the MCG. Enter via Gate 3 (Olympic Stand). Viewing of the nearby ‘Olympic Gallery’ at the Australian Sports Museum is encouraged. Hosted by Jed Smith (Manager, Museum and Heritage Services, Melbourne Cricket Club) and others.
1.15pm Roundtable 1 – Lessons from the Past and Plans for the Future.
Hosted by Australian Centre for Olympic and Sports Studies (ACOSS), University of Technology Sydney. Featuring Adjunct Professor Cashman (Past Director of ACOSS) in conversation with Associate Professor Daryl Adair (Present Director of ACOSS) and Professor Simon Darcy (Executive member of ACOSS).
2pm Roundtable 2 – Setting the Agenda: Olympic and Paralympic Studies in the Context of the 2032 Olympic Games
Hosted by University of Queensland Centre of Olympic and Paralympic Studies (UQCOPS). Featuring Mr Björn Galjaardt (Honorary Assistant Director, UQCOPS).

3pm Roundtable 3 – The Current Status, Expertise and Proposed Activities of the ORN
Hosted by the Victoria University Olympic Research Network (ORN). Featuring Dr Matthew Klugman and Dr Richard Baka (Co-Directors of the Victoria University ORN), and others.
3.45pm Roundtable 4 – Olympic Education and Community Initiatives in Australia
Hosted by the Australian Olympic Committee.Featuring Ms Julia Cook (National Manager, Community Engagement, AOC).
