China Tour (summer camp) for VU students

Saturday 1 July 2017 to Friday 14 July 2017

Applications are now open for VU students to take part in a 14-day China Tour in early July 2017, organised by VU's Victoria Business Confucius Institute (VBCI).

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience China and its culture. The trip includes:

  • visits to historic and scenic sites
  • field research at leading Chinese companies
  • meeting students at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), our partner university.

Successful applicants will be offered six hours of training in basic Mandarin and Chinese culture, provided by the VBCI.

The proposed itinerary will take in Beijing, and Ningxia or Xi’an.

The final itinerary will be confirmed closer to the tour date.

Costs & sponsorship

Successful applicants will need to pay their own airfares and organise their visas (estimated to be around AUD$2000 in total).

Other costs within China, including meals and tours, will be sponsored by the hosts, and include:

  • hotel rooms (double occupancy)
  • group meals
  • group transportation
  • group sightseeing and entrance tickets
  • travel and accident insurance in China (participants are responsible for their regular medical insurance).

The tour is open to a maximum of 20 VU students of non-Chinese Nationality, and will be chosen on a first-come first-serve basis.

  • Language and cultural workshops: June 2017 (dates to be confirmed)
  • Tour: July 1 to July 14, 2017 (dates to be confirmed).

About the organisers

The VBCI is a collaboration between VU and the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). It facilitates Chinese business, language and cultural programs offered by the Confucius Institute.

Confucius Institutes disseminate Chinese language and culture. There are over 500 globally, with the headquarters at the Chinese Hanban Institute.

This China Tour is hosted by:

  • Chinese Language Council International (Hanban)
  • University of International Business and Economics (UIBE)
  • Victoria Business Confucius Institute at Victoria University.
