Wasted Space - interactive exhibition at VU Pop Up Shop
This event has already taken place.
The interactive exhibition, Wasted Space, has come to Victoria University's Pop-up shop in Nicholson St., Footscray, for the month of June.
Wasted Space explores the current status of art, identity and urban renewal in Footscray, as well as exhibiting unique archival material from Footscray’s Living Museum of the West.
“Footscray is changing rapidly and there is a concern that the identity of the place is being swept away in the development” says artist Benjamin Cittadini, “but what is the identity of Footscray? Who defines it and how do we create a sense of belonging to this place?”
As well as ghostly images and voices from Footscray’s Living Museum of the West, the exhibition will house a participatory “Information Booth”, where members of the public can “register a daydream”, make a “declaration of infinity”, recall “things that are easily forgotten”, or just sit down and have a chat with the artist.
The exhibition is open from 10am - 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until 27 June.
