Victoria University researchers at the Center for Health, Research and Education and Exercise Metabolism Unit at the Sunshine Hospital are recruiting participants to investigate if saffron extract holds the key to suppressing appetite and losing weight.
Dr Matthew Cooke and Dr Christos Stathis from the Biomedical and Health Sciences are recruiting 84 women to participate in a study designed to examine the effectiveness of a novel extract of saffron stigma, Satiereal® on food cravings and preferences, body composition, satiety and appetite regulatory hormones, and clinical safety markers over a twelve week period.
To be eligible for the study you must:
- Be between the ages of 20-50
- Have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 25 kg/m2 and less than 35 kg/m2
Participants will be required to ingest a herbal supplement, undergo body composition and blood testing. Participants will receive their results from body fat testing and free nutritional counseling.
If you are interested in taking part, please contact Dr Matthew Cooke or Dr Christos Stathis.
