VU welcomes new pro vice-chancellor

Victoria University has appointed Professor Ian Solomonides as its Pro Vice-Chancellor, Learning Innovation and Quality, starting in March 2016.

The newly created position will oversee VU’s learning and teaching, student participation and success programs, STEM education initiatives, and the library.

Professor Solomonides is currently director of Macquarie University’s Learning and Teaching Centre, and has held various other leadership roles in several industries in Australia and the UK.

He has a PhD in engineering education and strong research interests in student learning, student motivation and engagement, and curriculum design.

Professor Solomonides has provided academic consultancy and served on numerous external examination, subject validation, and review panels for universities in Australia, the UK and other countries.

He is the former president of the Council of Australian Directors of Academic Development, and is presently on the Register of Experts for the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency.
