VU congratulates partners’ haul at Green Room Awards

Two of Victoria University’s arts-based partners, Malthouse Theatre and Footscray Community Arts Centre, received honours at the Green Room Awards on Monday night.

The Green Room Awards recognise outstanding work in cabaret, dance, musical theatre, opera, theatre and alternative and hybrid performance productions that take place on Melbourne stages each year.

Celebrating artistic excellence and technical innovation, Green Room Awards are revered in Australia’s cultural capital.

Malthouse Theatre picked up four awards in the theatre category, as well as two opera awards for its adaption of Tim Winton’s The Riders, co-produced with Victorian Opera. Footscray Community Arts Centre took out a Lighting and Design award for their collaboration with Black Cab Productions and Melbourne Festival, My Lovers’ Bones.

As the official Education Partner of both Malthouse Theatre and Footscray Community Arts Centre, Victoria University offers opportunities for industry placements, workshops, events, collaborative projects and performance tickets to give our students real-world context for their studies.

As a proud sponsor of both Malthouse Theatre and Footscray Community Arts Centre, Victoria University is thrilled to congratulate both for their gongs at the Green Room Awards last night.
