Personal Services Students get a bite of the big apple

VU's Services Industries Personal Services students have an opportunity to Experience New York Fashion Week.  Industry engagement is a valuable way to grow knowledge and when it comes to fashion, work experience at New York Fashion week is an amazing opportunity to turbo charge industry skills.

In 2012 Victoria University's School of Service Industries Personal Services will be leading a team of 8 students on the experience of a life time.  A week in New York working behind the scenes of 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. VU's Outbound Mobility Program, with support from DEEWR, is offering four hairdressing students and four make up students the opportunity of working behind the scenes at New York Fashion week.

Victoria University's School of Service Industries students graduate with qualifications that are highly respected by our industry partners.  Gaining real world skills and experience at an internationally-recognised fashion forum is an amazing opportunity for VU students to gain an even bigger advantage for their future careers.

Students will

  • visit the Rodney Cutler Salon
  • spend an afternoon with Make-Up artist Jennifer Lombardo
  • work on models back stage at REAL fashion shows for 8 days

With only four hairdressing students and four makeup students selected to attend at this prestigious event, Jennifer Walsh from the VU's School of Personal Services expects strong competition for the limited places. To ensure every eligible student has an opportunity to apply, an important information session is being held to review the application process for interested students.

An information session is being held at the City King Campus on Tuesday 13th March 2012.
