Hunt on for next Olympians at VU

Victoria University is helping the Australian Sports Commission in its quest for potential athletes for the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

People aged 12 to 25 are invited to complete a series of basic physical and physiological tests at VU's Aquatic and Fitness Centre on Friday 10 July to see if they have what it takes to become an Olympian.

Testing will be undertaken by staff from VU's School of Sport and Exercise Science.

Candidates identified as future stars by the national talent identification and development program will be invited to join a training program aimed at fast-tracking Australia's next-generation of world champions.

All participants, regardless of their performance, will receive a certificate with their results and a comparison as to where they fit in the general population.

Tests cost $22 and can be booked online by visiting www.ausport.gov.au/etid and selecting Victoria University as the testing centre. Bookings for sports teams of 15 or more can also be scheduled. Book now as places are limited.
