Finalists announced for 2014 Community Sport & Recreation Awards

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Damian Drum has announced the finalists for the Victorian Coalition Government’s 2014 Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

The awards provide a snapshot of the dedicated individuals, teams, clubs and organisations around the state that embody the true spirit of community sport and recreation.

Victoria University is a major sponsor of the awards, in particular the Service to Sport and Active Recreation category.

Victoria University (VU) has a long and proud history as a sport university and today VU is arguably Australia’s leading sport University. Importantly, we encourage our students and staff and the broader community to pursue active and healthy life styles. It is for this reason that we are pleased to support these Awards.

The finalists in the VU sponsored category Service to Sport and Active Recreation are:

  • Beverley Gaudion, Calisthenics Victoria
  • Colleen Rogers, Loddon Valley Football Netball League
  • Robert Prout, Warnambool Table Tennis Association

"I warmly congratulate our finalists and personally thank them for their significant contribution to community sport and recreation," Mr Drum said.

"These are the people who make sport happen in our communities. They run clubs, organise teams, umpire games, fundraise, turn innovative ideas into reality and inspire people to stay active and healthy."

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the MCG on Wednesday 1 October.

More information about the awards is available on the Victorian Government’s 2014 Community Sport and Recreation Awards website.
