This event has already taken place.

Wednesday 9 July 2014 to Friday 11 July 2014

Victoria University law students are invited to participate in the inaugural Australian and New Zealand Air Law Moot Competition (ANZALM). Develop and improve your legal skills by taking part in the Moot.

VU's College of Law & Justice, in conjunction with the International Institute of Air and Space Law, Leiden University, Leiden, Netherlands are pleased to announce the first ANZALM Competition.

Cooperation between these two institutions has resulted in a unique opportunity for students to:

  • gain experience in the field of aviation liability law
  • develop research and advocacy skills
  • establish contacts with legal and insurance practitioners in Australia and New Zealand.

The competition is open to all university law schools in Australia and New Zealand. Each university may designate one (1) team to partake in the competition, which will involve two days of mooting rounds, with the last day being the grand final.

Case scenario

The case scenario involves passenger liability claims that may conceivably arise from a fictional air crash incident. Students will be required to consider the practicalities of an aviation claim from both the passenger and airline/insurer perspectives.

Registration

The deadline for registration to enter the competition is Sunday 1 June 2014.

Expressions of interest to participate in the competition can be emailed to [email protected].
