Mayi is a Teaching Focused Academic in the First Year College, teaching undergraduate nursing and midwifery students.

Mayi specialised in critical care nursing with a Master of Nursing (Intensive Care Stream) in 2020 and has over 18 years of clinical nursing experience in numerous specialities, both in metropolitan and rural healthcare settings. In addition to her critical care experience in both the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, Mayi has also gained clinical expertise in paediatric, medical and surgical, rehabilitation, trauma, geriatric and mental health areas of nursing.

Mayi has a strong interest in sustainability and the mitigation of environmental impacts in healthcare and is dedicated to shaping the future nursing and midwifery workforce to create positive change in healthcare. Mayi has a strong commitment to ongoing education and endeavours to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive, develop practical and theoretical knowledge, and ultimately provide responsive patient-centred care as scholarly
