Jane completed her Bachelor of Youth Work at Victoria University in 2001. She began working during her studies, supporting young people with a range of different abilities to access services and opportunities in their local communities. The roles included:

  • housing support
  • personal carer
  • educational support officer
  • respite and recreation worker
  • disability instructor.

In 2010, Jane was given the opportunity to use her training, skills and experience to invest back into the education at Victoria University by facilitating and teaching in the disability and community services qualifications, and then in the Youth Work and Education Support qualifications where she currently teaches and coordinates. The Bachelor of Youth Work, Master of Education as well as specialised certificates in disability and Training and Assessment have given Jane a breadth of knowledge and skills which have been complemented by 12 years of industry experience.

Jane's PhD thesis explores hidden disability and universal design in a tertiary context.
