Alex is a lecturer/industry consultant of long standing. He currently lectures at Victoria University in the Victoria Graduate School of Business and School of Management and Information Systems in undergraduate and postgraduate programs (Masters and Doctorate), onshore and offshore, and Winter and Summer Schools. He is also a research associate for the Centre for International Corporate Governance Research and associate and part time researcher at the Centre for Strategic Economic Studies. He also supervises four doctoral students and mentors others in Research Proposal Preparation and Writing which he teaches for doctoral students.
He has designed, conducted and assessed various subjects, courses and programs for a range of undergraduate to postgraduate student groups and facilitated fee-for-service activities with commercial clients for the university and his own consultancy. He has lectured in the BBus, MBA, MERP and DBA programs locally and overseas in Bangladesh and China, and for James Cook University (Melbourne Campus). He represents the Faculty of Business and Law on a number of course advisory committees and is course coordinator for BBus (Global Logistics and Transport). His academic and industrial experience is strongly grounded in Operations and Supply Chain Management and Organisation Behaviour with a tendency to quantitative methods such as operations research. His doctoral thesis however, was on performance measurement of corporate governance in a supply chain.
He has a doctoral degree in business administration and been lecturing in Management since 1996. His academic strengths are; Econometric and Business Modeling in Supply Chain Management, Corporate Governance and Strategic Management, and Organisation Behaviour. He has researched and presented his work at national and international conferences, submitted journal articles, written a book (Springer Publishers) and a chapter for an encyclopaedia on Generalised Linear Models. His doctoral thesis "A New Approach to Performance Measurement using Data Envelopment Analysis: Implications for Organisation Theory, Corporate Governance and Supply Chain Management" presents a quantitative model for national and transnational business and governance scenarios in an increasingly globalised world and required research across a number of disciplines. His examiners for this thesis rated it as an 'outstanding contribution' and excellent.
He is a current peer reviewer for the Journal of Modelling in Management, for ANZAM (Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management) and various International Supply Chain and Logistics Conferences. His academic affiliations include full membership to ANZAM, Australian Marketing Institute, and Australian Institute of Project Management. He is also working with the Institute for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Victoria University) and the International Standards association GS1 Australia. He also holds a GAMS account for research funding and liaises with industry in a consultative capacity.
