Overview

Project managers today face ill-defined and complex problems. Success in modern project management requires mastery of crucial skills including problem identification, evidence-based research, and clear communication of findings. This unit enables students to undertake and report on applied research that addresses real-world project management challenges, developing their ability to critically evaluate problems and propose effective solutions. Students will apply and synthesise knowledge to investigate a contemporary research problem and report on their findings and conclusions contributing to evidence-based project management scholarship.

Students taking this unit need to have also successfully completed EPM7001 Project Management Applied Project A to complete the research project component of their course.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Implement appropriate methods to collect and analyse data;
  2. Critically review and interpret project outcomes and contributions to the project management evidence base;
  3. Conduct an independent research project under supervision with a high level of personal autonomy and accountability; and
  4. Distil ideas and persuasively communicate research findings.
