Overview

Understanding how to think on your feet in the pressure cooker of a live event environment requires building knowledge and skills to react to different challenges. This unit, collaboratively developed alongside a major event producer, equips you with skills for a range of scenarios based on events you would encounter as a professional in event management.

In this unit, you will be guided through the development of an event operational plan based on an industry-developed brief. You will learn how to set clear event objectives, react to last minute changes, deal with hostile clients and design a feedback survey that will allow you to report back to your clients on the performance of the event.

You'll develop a detailed understanding of the processes, technology and logistics involved in creating, building and staging a live event.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Design and construct an event operational plan, justifying key decision making with reference to relevant principles, practice and theories;
  2. Collaborate and report on event design, managing relevant stakeholders and client objectives;
  3. Analyse and resolve operational issues likely to influence the success of an event; and,
  4. Formulate methods of event performance evaluation, including instruments and strategies for appraising implementation against objectives.
