Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply system software changes and deliver modified systems to a variety of operational areas.
The unit applies to individuals who may work in roles such as digital maintenance technicians who monitor operating systems on client computers and conduct various technology fixes.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
•complete at least two different types of system software changes.
•test and evaluate the impact of system software changes
•consult with required personnel and users from impacted organisational areas
•hand over system software changes with instructions and updated documentation to organisational areas
•configure computers to accept new or upgraded application software
•apply required organisational policies and procedures.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
