Turning ideas into business
Tim Baxter gained solid entrepreneurial skills at VU and now runs his own successful business.
"I got the idea for my business venture when I was having trouble selling and buying textbooks for my course.
I created a website for students to find the textbooks they needed and sell the ones they didn’t. I launched the site, Arrange Exchange, in 2009 and it’s received a huge response.
At VU I learned the key business skills I needed to translate my ideas into a business. The personal and professional contacts I made with VU students and staff were fantastic. It’s such a good networking environment.
I also appreciated the experience I gained as a member of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) club, which gave me opportunities to present ideas to CEOs from across Australia. SIFE is the world’s largest university-based, free-enterprise organisation that brings students and business leaders together."
