Sporting a passion
Grant Rowe went from TAFE to degree studies, inspiring his students to do the same.
"I was a below-average student in high school who only liked sports. I realised I needed to focus on my studies if I wanted to have a good career in the sports industry.
Getting a low ATAR score didn’t stop me from going to uni because I enrolled in VU’s Certificate III in Fitness and was able to pathway into the diploma then degree.
During my final year of my degree, I won a cadetship with Melbourne Storm where I gained valuable practical experience. This helped after I graduated and worked in Canada as a personal trainer.
Since then I’ve completed my masters and am now doing my PhD on a scholarship at ACU. My thesis is about pre-cooling techniques for endurance athletes.
I’m also teaching Sport and Science at VU whilst I complete my thesis."
