Shifting legal gears
Kate Bartlett attributes her success to VU’s practical approach to learning.
“I always wanted to become a lawyer and began working towards that goal when I started work at a Melbourne paralegal firm 11 years ago. I first enrolled in VU’s Advanced Diploma of Business (Legal Practice) as a pathway into a law/arts degree.
The transition from diploma to degree was easy because I developed practical skills and an understanding of the profession during my diploma. Working as a legal secretary all those years ago also helped.
I liked that both my diploma and degree focused on the practicalities of law and workforce skills, not just on theory.
I work at Russell Kennedy, a commercial law firm in Melbourne’s CBD. I apply everything I learned at VU to my job today. I plan to pursue my Masters or a PhD next."
