Shaping young minds
Inspired to take a career leap Nicole Agius is making a difference as a primary teacher.
"When I was a human resources professional, I met so many people who couldn’t advance in their careers because they lacked a solid education in literacy and numeracy.
So I decided to undertake a major career change, and do Bachelor of Education so I could become a teacher and make a difference at the grass roots level.
I realised I would have to leave my comfort zone – personally, financially and emotionally – to achieve my goals. But like most things in life, it’s all about your attitude!
Now I am thrilled to have secured a permanent position teaching grade six at Seabrook Primary School.
I had an awesome four years at VU studying for my degree. The time went quickly and I made so many friends. VU has provided fantastic opportunities and I felt supported and encouraged from my first day."
