Living his adventure

Tim Holman stepped off the corporate ladder to pursue his dreams in community development.

"VU gave me industry-based experience and I learned how to apply the fundamentals in marketing and advertising. I knew the terminology from day one on the job. I did my workplace learning with the Hawthorn Football Club. It gave me a solid grounding to apply myself in the workplace.

But I soon realised the corporate life wasn’t for me and I left to teach in an orphanage in Kenya. In May 2011 I started a cycling tour with four friends from London to Australia to raise awareness about the issue of child trafficking.

I work for World Vision, and to be a part of that organisation is an absolute privilege. To see people who’ve been touched by tragedy and hearing their stories reinforces why you do what you do.

I go by the motto: live an adventure and have fun. It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey."
