Change for his community
Liberal arts student Victor Victor was awarded the prestigious Young Victorian of the Year 2012.
"It’s overwhelming to receive the Young Victorian of the Year award and be recognised for my community work with Sudanese youth. I was also awarded City of Greater Dandenong’s Young Achiever award earlier this year.
I want to continue to improve the lives of young Sudanese people in Melbourne so I co-founded the Sudanese Australian Youth Action Group. I hope this creates community change and positive alternatives to stereotyped representations of African youth in Australia.
I plan to continue into the second year of a double degree in social work and psychology as part of VU’s new Dip. into Degree program.
VU’s Dip. into Degree courses provide streamlined pathways from a one-year diploma straight into the second year of a bachelor degree, with full credit for the first year of the degree."
