Student work placements
VU is committed to giving you the best chance to succeed where it counts: in the workplace.
Through a program of Learning in the Workplace and Community (LiWC) our students gain practical work experience in a trade, industry or profession as they study. This page highlights some of the projects our students have completed.

Cultural and creative industries

We have courses with a focus on crreative industries in the College of the Arts. They offers a flexible, well-resourced, and stimulating learning environment for students. You have the opportunity to learn everything from design, games, multimedia and music to professional writing and editing and performance.
Student work is exhibited at VU Artspace on Level 17 of City Flinders Campus. So if you are in the city, pop in and discover fresh and innovative artwork. The space also hosts touring exhibitions from artists around Melbourne and Victoria.
Gaming
The multimedia and games development program at VU is the best in the country. Our students have been recognised in the prestigious ATOM and AIMIA awards every year since 1999. If you study Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media you can learn how to create your own Flash games. Check out what our students have been working on and play their awesome flash games.
Construction and civil engineering

Students and teachers in trades courses built a Smart House at Sunshine. The house has an 11-star energy rating - more than double the rating required by Victoria's ResCode legislation.
Our best trades student work is showcased on Skills One, a trade and skill website. Watch VU students build full-size houses in the Carpentry 'live work' video.
Manufacturing and mechanical engineering

Students who undertake the engineering course at VU get to build and drive their own race car! This hair-raising project lets you put the pedal to the metal and compete against other universities in the worldwide Formula SAE competition.
If you're interested in mechanics, think about studying mechanical engineering at VU.
