Bachelor of Business student Andre Oman tells us about the benefits of the Block Model, the beauty of the City Tower, and what a degree in business could mean for his future in events.

“I started working at Bluesfest straight out of high school, working in a variety of roles, and then decided to spread my wings and get a bit of book knowledge and some qualifications behind me, and Melbourne was the perfect place. And that's how I came to find VU.”

A smarter way to study with the Block Model

“I think the VU Block Model is the only reason I'm still studying. I started with a TAFE course and I thought that was it. And then I really liked the Block Model, so I kept studying.

“It's just so much better having one subject at a time, rather than four together and four exams at the same time. It makes it so much easier and more doable.

“The teachers always give you a decent amount of time as well. It's very manageable, the daily schedule: three hour classes, so you don't feel too exhausted at the end of it.”

Experiencing the VU City Tower

“The VU City Tower is very beautiful, outside and in. It definitely feels like an experience just coming in here.

“Being in the CBD area is so much fun as well, and I love both coming to school and leaving school!”

A future in the live music industry calls

“Well, my life dream is to open my own music venue, but I would imagine getting a job at a music venue would be a good first step. Start from the bottom and work my way up.”

“What I like about working in events is the priceless memories that you make with your friends. They’re memories that you can't put a price on, that are invaluable to everyone.

“And, it's also just good for your own mental health to get out there and enjoy yourself.”
