Industry Skills Training a Winner

Industry Skills Training has won the 2008 Australian Supply Chain & Logistics (ASCL) Training Education & Development Award. The award was presented to Head of School Peter Jacobsen at a gala event held in Brisbane.

IST nominated the four week Ready to Work course for this award, there were six applications short listed, the award criteria was for significant achievement in any aspect of training, education, or the development of people which is relevant to Supply Chain and Logistics. This can cover formal education through a tertiary institution, in-company training, training provided by a registered training organisation or private training. Professional development can be demonstrated at any level.

Training Riggers for the real world

Industry Skills Training has recently taken delivery of a set of specially engineered tilt panels for the training of Riggers. These panels replicate industry conditions and put IST in the position of being able to match the latest competency units.

Tilt-up panels are an efficient method for building warehouses, office buildings, commercial and industrial structures, shopping centres and multi-storey apartments. The cost benefits and time savings are recognised by engineers, architects and developers. To erect these panels in the construction industry in Victoria you need a 'Licence to Perform High Risk Work - Intermediate Rigging'.
