Sport and Exercise Science

The School of Sport and Exercise Science is a leading provider of education and research programs in sport and exercise science and recreation. We deliver a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, from degree to doctoral level.

The School offers several double degrees. Our degree in Sport and Recreation Management is coupled with business degrees in Management, Marketing and Event Management with the Faculty of Business and Law. Double degrees in Exercise Science / Human Movement and Psychology or Exercise Science/ Human Movement and Sport and Recreation Management are also very popular.

The school has a rich and vibrant research culture that is internationally recognised. Its large group of academic research scholars, post doctoral fellows, PhD candidates and honours students, in collaboration with the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL), engages in a wide range of research projects across the following disciplines:

Exercise Rehabilitation

Victoria University Exercise Rehabilitation (VUER) provides services for people who want to exercise and are living with, or are at risk of, chronic disease, injuries or disabilities. We aim to improve people's function, health and quality of life through exercise and physical activity. VUER works with and for clients to restore function (rehabilitation), improve function (conditioning for work, recreation or activities of daily living), or prevent new occurrence, relapse or further progression of a condition (prevention).  

Facilities and partnerships

The School's comprehensive teaching, research and services facilities have been consolidated on the Footscray Park Campus in a new world-class $30 million sport and exercise science integrated laboratory precinct.

The School of Sport and Exercise Science places strong emphasis on learning in the workplace or community experiences. These are often undertaken in collaboration with such partners in elite sport such as the Western Bulldogs Football Club, the Western Jets, Melbourne Storm and Melbourne Victory as well as Essendon Keilor College and Maribyrnong College and a wide range of community organisations.

The School is truly international with very active student exchange programs with leading international universities such as the German Sports University, University of Western Ontario, Beijing Sports University and Indiana University.

Sports Camps

VU Sports Camps are for children 6 to 14 years of age and conducted at the Footscray Park campus of Victoria University and offer the following sports camps:

  • Junior Multi-sport
  • Intermediate Multi-sport
  • Senior Multi-sport

Camps are conducted most school holidays and are a fun way to keep active and be involved in sport.
