David Mann interviewing Professor Pauline Stanton
David Mann
I'm David Mann, and with me is Professor Pauline Stanton, who is the Head of the Victoria Graduate School of Business at Victoria University. Professor, tell us about the postgraduate programs available at the Victoria Graduate School of Business?
Pauline Stanton
We have a full suite of postgraduate programs; we have for example our MBA, and our DBA, but we also have postgraduate courses in marketing, accounting, events management, supply chain management, tourism and hospitality, to name just a few.
David Mann
And why should people consider post graduate study at Victoria University?
Pauline Stanton
For three reasons. First of all, because postgraduate study opens doors; it's not just about getting a promotion, or moving to the next level of your career. It can also be about changing career direction.
Secondly, of course, because of our location. We're just across the road from Flinders Street Station, one of the easiest places to get to if you work in the city, or if you're coming from anywhere across Melbourne.
And thirdly - very importantly - because of our friendly, skilled and well-qualified staff.

David Mann interviewing Lecturer John Hopkins
David Mann
This is David Mann, and with me is John Hopkins, a lecturer in supply chain management at Victoria University. Now John, I've got to be honest - what does 'supply chain' mean?
John Hopkins
Well David, put simply, a supply chain is an inter-connected network of businesses that make and deliver products to end customers. They’re involved in moving parts and components and products around the world. Now, in today's global marketplace, these networks can be very large indeed, often covering vast distances across many countries, and sometimes consisting of hundreds, or even thousands, of supply-chain partners.
David Mann
And what courses are offered in supply chain and Victoria University - and where do the graduates end up?
John Hopkins
We have a whole range of courses in this area, from TAFE level, through undergraduate, right up to masters level. And with Victoria being Australia's major transport and logistics hub, there are lots of opportunities out there for people with the right skills and qualifications.

David Mann interviewing MBA graduate Bruce Miller
David Mann
This is David Mann, and with me is Bruce Miller, who is the Managing Director of IT Recruitment firm, Alexander Porter – the artful science of talent identification. Now Bruce, I understand that heading up your company is, well, relatively new to you. You went back to postgraduate study at Victoria University and changed career mid-stream?
Bruce Miller
Yes David, that’s correct. I began an MBA in 2005. The idea at the time was to build the foundations of skills to climb the corporate ladder. Halfway through my MBA program, I decided to start tailoring the subjects to set up my own business, which I was fortunate enough to achieve in 2008.
David Mann
And now you’re the boss! And tell me a particular highlight of studying your MBA with Victoria University?
Bruce Miller
In addition to the flexibility, the opportunity to go overseas and study with an International Exchange Program at a business school based out of Paris was certainly another highlight for me.
David Mann
Thanks Bruce, and congratulations! And for more information, visit vu.edu.au.Victoria University - Grow.
